Stargirl, aka Courtney Whitmore, is a DC Comics character. She is the step daughter of Pat Dugan, aka Stripesy, sidekick to golden age hero the Star Spangled Kid. Courtney found the original Star Spangled Kid’s gear, and eventually joined the Justice Society of America. She is given the Cosmic Staff, which grants her anti-gravity abilities, by the current Starman Jack Knight and takes the name Stargirl. Following the New 52 reboot of the DC Universe, Stargirl has been reintroduced as a member of the Justice League of America.
