Wonder Man, aka Simon Williams, is a Marvel comics character.  He began his career as a foe of the Avengers, manipulated into infiltrating and betraying the team by Baron Heinrich Zemo.  Zemo exposed Simon to ionic rays, which granted Simon strength and invulnerability, but also would prove fatal if Zemo did not expose Simon at regular intervals.  Simon ultimately became friends with the Avengers and turned on Zemo, seemingly sacrificing his life in the process.  Years later, Simon was awakened by the Living Laser and it was revealed that he was not truly dead, but instead in near death state while his powers further developed.  Simon eventually rejoined the Avengers, and served as a member of the West Coast branch for several years.  Simon was seemingly killed once more when the team was retooled into Force Works, but it was revealed that he was actually just reduced to ionic powers, and he was a reassembled by fellow Avenger Scarlet Witch.  At this point, Simon gained the ability to transform himself into a pure energy state, granting him heightened abilities.  Simon’s brain patterns were used by the evil android Ultron to create the Vision.  Because of this, Simon has often found himself in a love triangle of sorts with the Vision and Scarlet Witch, Vision’s one time wife.
